Mike Akerly lived in Orange County, CA until he left to attend the University of Southern California (USC) in Los Angeles. After graduating with a BA, he worked in talent and literary representation at agencies and management firms such as ICM in Beverly Hills and Media Talent Group in West Hollywood. While there, he had the opportunity to work on behalf of artists such as Angelina Jolie, Billy Bob Thornton, Mira Sorvino, Forest Whitaker, Robert Rodriguez, Danny Boyle, and Baz Luhrmann. While in Los Angeles, Mr. Akerly began his career in real estate before moving on to New York City to attend law school at the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law at Yeshiva University. There, he completed his Juris Doctor with concentrations in real property and corporate law while simultaneously making acquisitions in the Manhattan market.

Mike now works with his partner and wife, Kate Akerly, out of their TriBeCa and Park Slope offices in New York City. He is an attorney and broker with licenses in CA, MA, and NY. The Akerly Real Estate Team has been featured on NBC’s Open House, and interviewed by the New York Times, and their blog, Village Confidential, has been cited regularly in the major real estate trades and national publications and is the most read Greenwich Village blog. Mike also writes a weekly column, Rent Coach, that is published in AM NY and on BrickUnderground.com. During his free time, he enjoys travel, good wine, great food, and friends. He has advanced certifications in deep water scuba diving and is an avid skier and snowboarder. He and his wife reside in Greenwich Village in New York City.
